Handmade Industrial Dining Table on a Cast Iron Machine Base pictures awesomely in situ at the customer home
The Cast Iron Base was cast in the late between 1880-1920 by ‘Henry Bamford & Sons’ of Uttoxeter, England. This company is non-other than JCB’s (Big yellow diggers) Grandfathers.
These original grinding machine bases are hard to come across and increasingly rare, we travel the country looking for them to lovingly restore and help preserve a piece of British industrial history
This particular one was stripped back to raw iron before being finished in its almost original state before being finished to preserve and protect that look. We can paint it any colour, if you a colour other than black let us know when placing the order.
We can also leave the base in its original form, simply cleaned up and lacquered for a more Rustic look…. if this is more ‘you’ then have a look at our other listing ‘Rustic Industrial Dining Table on a Henry Bamford Cast Iron Base’ aswell as the final 4 pictures on this listing
This table top is a chunky 45mm thick reclaimed characterful Pitch-Pine, painstakingly denailed by hand and sympathetically sanded to remove splinters yet retain all the depth, grain + character.
We finish off the top with a few coats of an industry leading Jacobean Wax for a longlasting protective finish and provide a care kit for future protection.
The table pictured is a completed project that measures 2M X 90cm. At this size it seats 6-8 people.
We can make the tables to any size and try to keep a few bases in at any one time to give you options.
